ABOUT PEOPLE IN NEED:

PIN has been working in Northern Syria since 2012, providing emergency relief and early recovery support to conflict-affected communities. Programmers for conflict-affected communities in Syria focus mainly on Emergency Food Assistance, WASH, and Education, in addition to Early Recovery and Livelihoods activities. PIN’s contribution to the Syria humanitarian response is amongst the largest, with an annual turnover of over $30 million, engaging over 350 full- time staff members across Northern Syria and cross-border response hubs in neighboring countries.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

The Communications department is in charge of communications, visibility and advocacy of the Syria mission and works in close cooperation with the HQ Communication & Advocacy Department, as well as the Senior Country Management Team (Head of Programmes, Programme Managers etc.)

GENERAL POST DISCRIPTION:
The role is as a fusion of 2 specific tasks: information sharing and visibility. The position is line-managed by NWS Senior Communications Officer, and the Regional Communication and Advocacy Manager for Middle East. This role focuses specifically on providing communications coverage within Aleppo Governorate.
REPORTING ON:
COMMUNICATION CHANNALES
He works under the supervision of the NWS Senior Communications Officer and frequently communicates with relevant Programmes to coordinate the coverage and field visits related to projects and activities

PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES (RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS):

I. Communications and visibility:

- To write and collect stories, pictures and videos covering PIN’s activities and -occasionally- coordinating the support of external media service providers
- To support internal communication addressing PIN teams with regular updates about communication outputs and media initiatives
- To support the preparation of case studies, flyers, leaflets, promo materials about PIN programmes and other visual communication that projects require
- To support translations into Arabic of materials created by the Communications and Advocacy Department.
- To support the preparation and deliver inductions, trainings and presentations for PIN staff to build their capacity and awareness about PIN’s communications
- To support crisis communications under the supervision of the Regional Communication & Advocacy Manager for the Middle East.
- To provide social media support on Syria through social media monitoring
- To create and maintain archive (stories + photos) according to agreed structure
- To support programmes in the production of visibility materials.
- To ensure field level application of both PIN and donor visibility standards.
- To act as focal point for media and journalists requests in the area

PRINCIPAL COMPETINCES REQUIRED:

I. Technical competencies:
- Academic Certificate or major
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic
- Previous experience in Communications in an international NGO
- Previous media experience welcomed
- Videography and photography skills welcomed

II. Skills competencies such as behavioural, interpersonal and personal skills:
