Psychosocial Support (PSS) Project Officer

ROLE OF THE Psychosocial Support Project Officer
Under the line-management of the Health Project Manager (PM) and with the support of the Mental Health & Psychosocial Support Technical advisor (TA), you will be responsible for:
▪ Responsibility 1: Team management/HR (30%)
▪ Responsibility 2: Psychosocial support services quality assurance (20%)
▪ Responsibility 3: Capacity building and technical support (20%)
▪ Responsibility 4: Support in PSS activities management (20%)
▪ Responsibility 5: Lessons learning and reporting (10%)
RESPONSIBILITY 1: Team management/HR (30%)
• Participate in the induction process of PSS staff under your line management/supervision ensuring appropriate training/support is provided.
• Directly manage & support the Mobile Team on a daily basis, ensuring they can reach their weekly objectives
• Conduct staff evaluation including improvement needs of the team (trainings, recruitment, etc.)
• Manage HR issues faced on the field or within teams and report them to your line manager;
• Ensure conflict resolution (personal and professional) within your staff and inform in case of difficulties;
• Ensure a good communication – coordination – information with your staff through regular coordination meetings
• Build and maintain a team dynamic cohesion and professionalism which enables the objectives of HI to be carried out;
• Ensure smooth communication and liaison with other HI teams working in NS, in close liaison with the BM;
• Ensure strict application and respect of the Internal Regulation (including security and ethics) by your related staff; and liaise with the admin department for disciplinary procedures as necessary;
RESPONSIBILITY 2: Psychosocial support services quality assurance (20%)
• Ensure technical adherence to HI procedures in the PSS for rehab intervention in collaboration with MHPSS TA including use of all validated HI operational & technical framework (Beneficiary assessment, guidelines, SOPs and other tools)
• Provides technical guidance to HI and partners PSS staff at each step of PSS for rehabilitation process: assessment, provision of service, provision, training and advices provided to care givers, use and implementation of various tools in collaboration with the MHPSS Technical Advisor;
• Technically supervise and provide give technical feedback to Partner’s PSW in close collaboration with the Partnership and Referral Officer
• Ensure a regular supervision of the Psychosocial workers through field visits and technical follow-up “Case Studies” in order to supervise the quality of the PSS for rehabilitation activities and the respect of the Organization’s approach;
RESPONSIBILITY 3: Capacity building and technical support (20%)
• In close collaboration with the MHPSS Technical Advisor, ensure the implementation of periodic skill assessment &
analysis to develop the capacity building plans for all PSS for rehabilitation staff
• Implement the capacity building plan through the provision of continuous on the job coaching and formal trainings
for rehabilitation staff
• Produce training and coaching reports and coordinate feedbacks with the MHPSS Technical Advisor for
strengthening continuous staff development
RESPONSIBILITY 4: Support in PSS activities MANAGEMENT (20%)
• Under the supervision of the PM, ensure all tasks and activities are achieved within the planned timeframe (including
PSS group sessions) and others in collaboration with other team members.
• Under the supervision of the Base Manager & Project Manager, organize the planning of PSS team – this includes
weekly/daily planning of activities defined according to the project objectives and priorities and taking into account
security issues as well as identifying any issues resulted in the field and propose solutions to come over them.
• Organize regular meeting with the team to share information and update on programme;
• Supervise the required logistics and procurement in coordination with the support services team; orders requested
material upon demand (in collaboration with the logistics department), check the availability and the quality of
material needed, etc. in coordination with MHPSS TA
• Liaise with external actors effectively to support implementation of PSS GR activities
• Support the MHPSS TA on the analysis of the program and its cohesion with the context and the identified global
rehabilitation needs for adaptation of current activities or design of new activities as per request
• Ensure program consistency and good collaboration among the psychosocial, rehabilitation and Prosthesis &
Orthosis teams for comprehensive care of the program beneficiaries
RESPONSIBILITY 5: Lessons learning and reporting (10%)
• Ensure that issues identified through the monitoring process are brought to the attention of the MHPSS TA, PM and
addressed accordingly;
• Send weekly and monthly reports to the MHPSS TA, PM and the BM on all activities conducted: trainings, partners,
HI Mobile Team activities;
• Write minutes of all meetings chaired for capitalization;
• Provide reports / summaries of any trainings, meetings, case studies given and keep data records on capacitybuilding
activities in coordination with MHPSS TA
• Report any specific problems that jeopardize the activities and suggest solutions;
• Supervise data management and archiving of project related documents, including management of donations
certificates and training documentation for donors’ accountability;
• Identify and document the good practices (related to Identification of case studies and success stories to illustrate
changes induced by the project and for communication use
• Manage the mapping of services and actors to implement an efficient referral system in the area of intervention
• Support the team when needed in defining the different external referrals needed by the beneficiaries;
• In collaboration with the Case Management Worker, follow-up on the referrals from and to HI and ensure filling of
the appropriate documents is accurate;
• Providing regular feedbacks of referrals from/to external actors.


1. Education
• Bachelor degree in Psychology
2. Languages:
• Arabic & English mandatory (oral and written),
3. Experience:
▪ At least 3 years of professional experience in the same field
▪ At least 2 years of professional experience in humanitarian context, preferably in emergency contexts
▪ Previous experience of work placement supervision, teaching or supervision would be an asset
4. Skills:
▪ Proven managerial experience
▪ Strong communication and reporting skills
▪ Strong organisational skills
▪ Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills
▪ Ability to work under high pressure
