Child protection officer – Gaziantep - Turkey

General Description of the Organization:


Ghiras Al-Nahda is a Non-profit Non-governmental humanitarian organization working to empower people through fulfilling their basic needs and seeking to improve community stability and resilience.

Job purpose:


The Child Protection Officer will help the project manager in daily activities and documentation relating to child protection
will be responsible to supervise all activities for children in the selected locations. He/she will report to the project manager and will have to organize and supervise the case management team and all their related tasks.
Responsible for gender mainstreaming and proactive technical support to the organization. S/he will work with all departments to ensure that gender equity principles are incorporated into all policies and activities, including the design and implementation of training on gender-related topics.

Duties, & objectives:

Key responsibilities:


1- Supervision and daily work with field teams /case management – planning/trainings/awareness:
Supervision of the case management team, evaluate their job performance, conduct case management meetings with the case management team and donor, supervise the interventions, design clear formats for data collection and treatment, produce timely reports for internal use on the activities in each location, highlighting challenges, best practices and lessons learned, attending relevant training or events, and raise awareness of the Code of Conduct for working with children and CSG.
2- Policy and procedures:
-Encourage good practice by promoting and championing the child protection policy and procedures, monitor and review the child protection policy and procedures to ensure they remain current and fit for purpose, make decisions regarding child protection issues and build networks of contact in the child protection field, ensure all the staff adheres to the principles of the on the Rights of the Child, particularly respecting confidentiality and using a child-centered approach with the best interests of the child’ as the leading philosophy and respond appropriately to disclosures or concerns which relate to the well-being of a child.
3- Gender activities related to the project and organization/ trainings:
Working on mainstreaming gender issues, monitoring, and reporting on gender issues and provide support, training, and technical assistance on gender and related topics.
4- Coordination meetings:
Attend the relevant coordination meetings with the donor or clusters.

Experience and qualifications:

- University degree in psychology, social work, education, or related field of study.
- 3 years of work in NGOs humanitarian assistance program.
- Previous work in child protection/case management programs.
- Field experience and a solid understanding of psychosocial / protection issues in such context.
- Experience in team management and staff capacity building.
- Extensive training experience.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience working on and mainstreaming gender issues.
- Strong listening skills and the ability to deal with sensitive situations with integrity.
- The confidence and good judgment to manage situations relating to the poor conduct/behavior of others towards a child.
- Ability to work within a fluid situation (changes within the team, location of programs).
- Fluent in English and Arabic, Turkish is more advantage.
