ABOUT İNSANA DEĞER DERNEĞI (IDD)

We are a non-profit, non-governmental organisation providing emergency relief to people living both inside and outside of Turkey. We focus on the most vulnerable and crisis-affected people in our areas of operation, in partnership and cooperation with the rest of the humanitarian community and relevant public institutions. GENERAL POST DISCRIPTION:

Livelihoods Senior Officer will be responsible for implementation of early recovery/livelihoods activities of IDD, the main current focus being Provision of Business Grants (SBG) and capacity building to beneficiaries, with the purpose of new Livelihoods Creation. 

He/she will Provide day-to-day coordination and oversight of all the activities under the Livelihoods portfolio, in close cooperation with dedicated team and relevant support units, and under the guidance of Area Manager and Livelihoods Programme Manager.  


PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS: 

The main tasks and responsibilities 

I. Project Management:

• In-depth knowledge of project, its objectives, targets and relevant activities

• Contributes to development of practical SOPs and steps needed for activity delivery and ensures implementing team has the needed knowledge as well

• Actively contributes to planning targeting and beneficiary selections strategy, to ensure fair selection in line with logic and objectives of the activities, IDD’s and Donor’s guidelines

• Oversees and ensured quality development of specific materials needed for activities (training materials, templates, support documentation)

• Ensures activities are delivered timely, and are tailored to local context specifics and beneficiaries needs

• Lead the communications of planning and coordination with community representatives and local councils, ensure that all partners and local councils are clear and understand the terms of any contractual obligations and MoUs

• Maintains community acceptance of activities, reports any issues or tensions to relevant colleagues (PM, security)

• Conduct regular tracking of all activity progress and where needed, provides needed corrections 


II. Coordination and supervision

• Responsible for the supervision of the team members in the field to complete implementation in a timely and quality manner, in line with project objectives

• Prepares weekly and monthly schedules for the team, leads regular unit meeting, to ensure everyone is on track of progress, plans, issues are timely addressed

• Provide support, guidance and necessary capacity building to team members including providing clear assignments, tasks and instructions and ensuring they have needed knowledge and equipment needed for their tasks

• Regular coordination and communication with supervisor and line manager, to ensure activities are on track, cascades needed information and instructions to team members

• Close cooperation and communication with relevant support departments (logistics, finance, security, MEAL) in order to ensure smooth implementation of activities, provides required inputs to relevant departments

• Maintains friendly, respectful and equitable team environment


III. Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting

• Ensure programme-level inputs for monitoring, evaluation and learning are collected regularly, and properly archived as required

• Compiles necessary data from team members into comprehensive data/reports as required, and provides regular inputs to line manager needed for reporting and indicator tracking

• Closely coordinates with MEAL team and accountability team the needed data collection and monitoring, assessment; and processes to ensure accountability to beneficiaries

• Ensures all the supporting documentation for the activities are collected and archived in line with IDD’s and donor’s requirements and standard procedures

IV. Other:

• Participate on regular coordination meetings, trainings as required

• Actively contribute to constant quality improvement of project delivery, provide suggestions to improvement; identifies challenges hindering the implementation and ensures timely troubleshooting in coordination with relevant staff

• Identification of new opportunities and trends in the sector and local context

• Other tasks as assigned by line manager, corresponding to actual needs of the mission, programs, and projects

• Understand and adhere to the mission’s National Staff Handbook, IDD Code of Conduct, IDD Key Policies and relevant guidelines


PRINCIPAL COMPETINCES REQUIRED:

TECHNICAL COMPETINCES: 

• At minimum Bachelor Degree in relevant field

• At minimum 4 years of professional experience 

• Previous experience working with NGO is highly desirable, preferably in the field of new livelihoods creation, economic activities, business development, social and economic empowerment.

• High Proficiency in MS office required. Knowledge of other application such as Kobo (desirable)

• Deep understanding of local context

• Excellent Communications skills in Arabic 

• Good Knowledge of English is a strong asset
