Shelter Registration & Distribution Officer


SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL is a French humanitarian organization which provides aid and assistance to victims of war or natural disaster. For over 38 years the association has focused on meeting three vital needs - water, food and shelter. Currently present in Syria since 2013, SI carries out emergency / post-emergency programs in WASH sector in NWS region.



Under the direct supervision of the Shelter R&D Supervisor, the R&D Officer will be in charge of the field implementation of registration and distribution related to emergency WaSH/ SNFI activities in all North West of Syria.

List of main tasks:

I. Information collection and sharing

• To assist the Shelter R&D Supervisor/Deputy Program Manager to produce assessment by collecting data and information on the the field according to different context and situation.

• To collect general and sectorial information through needs assessments with appropriate tools.

• Reporting information about the situation on the field (security context, mainly WASH and shelter/NFI needs other domain that SI department or NGO can respond).

• Work closely with R&D Supervisor/Deputy Program Manager to provide all necessary data and feed into weekly/intervention/PDM reports as well as monthly action plan.

• To collect general and disaster-related information through hazard mapping activities.

• To collect IDP-related information through IDP’s tracking activities.

• Maintain and update field stock records of available items.

• Report about any security incident/ information that can affect SI image/ implementation of activities.

II. ERM activities implementation and follow-up

• To carry out properly needs assessments within a short period following a natural or man-made disaster

• To sensitize and work closely with village and community leaders on the selection and identification of beneficiaries as per vulnerability selection criteria.

• To carry out properly post intervention monitoring activities according to rapid response guidelines, in line with SI procedures, clusters technical recommendations and international standards.

• To carry out in-depth assessments in case of need to assist the disaster affected people according to rapid response guidelines, in line with SI procedures, clusters technical recommendations and international standards.

• To implement WASH and Shelter/NFI activities and monitor according WASH and Shelter/NFI clusters standard.

• To participate to distribution and monitor beneficiaries list.

• To plan and conduct regularly visits to targeted communities and inform the supervisor in achieved results.

• Maintain and regularly update the filing system to record necessary information of each targeted community

• Maintain a good relationship between SI and community beneficiaries.

III. Internal Communication

• To be in close collaboration and communication with the supervisor and other members of the team.


• Studies: Bachelor’s degree in engineering.

• If no diploma, equivalent to 2 years’ experience within humanitarian organizations (preferably in WASH sector).

• Languages: Arabic and basics of English.

• Cross cutting Skills: Good statistical skills. Knowledge of WASH, shelter, registration, and distribution activities on the field. Diplomatic skills to deal with local council, camp manager and beneficiaries. Strong appetite for field work. Management skills to manage a team of DW. Organization skills. Good team player.
